Five Parks for Kids

Three city parks with playgrounds (two with splash pads), a state park with a beach and a red brick fort, and a county beach park with a playground, a pier and gardens.

How we keep this useful

Picked and checked by hand; updated when hours, venues, menus, or source pages change.

Truman Waterfront Park, at the end of Southard Street, has a playground, picnic areas, a bike trail and paths. Its splash pad keeps shorter hours than the park itself, so water play is a daytime option. Restrooms, parking and ADA access are available.

Plan this one as a beach-and-history outing rather than a playground stop. Kids can explore the red brick fort, its cannons and interpretive exhibits, and the park also has a beach and a nature trail. Picnic tables, restrooms and showers are on site.
